Iranian 'Bystander' wins Russian award

Iranian short animation 'Bystander' has won an award at the 2018 edition of the St. Vladimir Film Festival in Russia.

The short film, directed by Sheida Kashi, has been announced as the recipient of the honorary diploma of the festival for being an innovative experience.

'Bystander' is a cinematic depiction of a society that does not tolerate differences and is heading for total destruction.

In the flick, an old man spends days looking through a window from where he sees a dark world. The man's past memories of the times he was an active revolutionary flicker in his mind.

The animation has already won Best Animation award at the 2018 Light of the World Film Festival in Russia, the second prize in the animation or experimental film section of the 21st Faludi International Youth Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary, and an award at “Творящие добро” section of the 2018 International Festival of Cinema and Television Taganay muses in Russia.

The St. Vladimir Film Festival is an annual event being held in the Russian city of Sevastopol. The event accepts films of vast genres and different countries around the world.

The latest edition of the film event was held on October 20-24, 2018.
